In addition to the opportunities and events coordinated by the Community Service Learning Center, there are many other ways to get involved with the CSLC!
CSLC Consultant (paid student employee)
The CSLC employs a small number of student employees that assist the constituents of the CSLC and provide support for related projects. Recruiting and hiring student staff is done in conjunction with the Office of Student Life. Application materials are typically due prior to Spring Break and hiring decisions are made prior to the end of the Winter semester. For more information, refer to the Office of Student Life.
Service & Leadership Intern
Undergraduate students can apply to serve as an intern to gain valuable experience and academic credit (optional, and depending upon major/minor). Interns assist with programs and events coordinated by the CSLC and Laker Leadership Programs.
College Positive Volunteer (CPV) Facilitator
College students interested in working with youth and committed to creating a college going culture should participate in this nationally recognized training. Trained students have the opportunity to spread the message on campus & in the community through outreach and presentations.
Join a Service & Advocacy student organization! Join one of more than 50 registered student organizations interested in issues of service, advocacy and community engagement.
Site Leader for Make a Difference Day
Over 30 students are recruited each year to lead a group of GVSU students during the service projects in the community on Make a Difference Day (the fourth Saturday of October annually).
