Acquiring data about GVSU's community impact through service
Please use this Community Impact Report Form to submit your service information.
Deadlines to remember:
Fall Semester reporting: December 1st
Winter Semester reporting: May 1st (April 11th for Registered Student Organizations)
In an effort to accurately track the number of service hours performed by Grand Valley State University students, the Office of the Provost has requested your cooperation in acquiring this data as it relates to your unit’s programs and events. Under the direction of the Office of the Provost, the Community Service Learning Center (CSLC) has been charged with the responsibility of collecting this data from all non-academic units and registered student organizations. (Note that the Office of the Provost directly collects academic service-learning hours from all colleges). This data collection is used for several university-wide mandatory surveys and important award applications including:
- Campus Compact’s National Survey
- President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll (GVSU was honored in February 2008 for service contributed in the 2007-2008 academic year.)
Timeline for Reporting
- This data collection process will occur twice annually
-
Requested deadlines for submission are:
- Fall semester: December 1st
- Winter semester: May 1st
- E-mail reminders about data acquisition dates will be sent by CSLC Staff
Provided here are service definitions to clarify the types of service your departments may report on: Types of Service Definitions
Please be sure to return your organization's form to the Community Service Learning Center located at 1110B Kirkhof Center on the Allendale Campus.
Reminders:
- All Service & Advocacy Organizations are required to submit this form to remain in good standing with the council. If your Service & Advocacy Organization has not done any service for the Winter 2010 term, please submit a form indicating "0" hours.
- All Registered Student Organizations are expected to report on the service hours that are contributed; regardless of which council the organization represents.
- Greek Letter Organizations will submit service hours to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life through the End-of-Semester Statistics Report due the second week of December. Service contributions made will be forwarded to the Community Service Learning Center for inclusion in this report.
Thank you in advance for your support in our efforts to capture this data across campus. With your assistance, we will be able to distinguish GVSU as a leader in student community service and service-learning by more accurately capturing the many ways in which our campus positively impacts our communities. Please contact the CSLC staff with any questions or concerns about this data collection process.
