Congratulations to the 2023 FOBI Research Awardees!

Professor Essila’s study will investigate factors that affect Enterprise Resources Planning software (ERP) systems adoption by Family-owned businesses. Along with his coauthor, they will study the relevance of the Theory of Planned Behavior, Social-emotional Wealth theory, and Stewardship theory to explain decisions in the context of family businesses. They plan to determine the statistical significance of identified contributing factors that could affect adoption decisions in the family-owned business environment. In addition, they will investigate the overall adoption rate and the extent to which the adopted ERP systems are being used to develop a framework categorizing adoption levels in family-owned business environments.

Prior research has found a negative relationship between institutional investment and family firms. Recently, the heterogeneity within family businesses has become more evident, leaving earlier dichotomous (family vs. non-family) results difficult to interpret. In this study, Professor Schneible proposes to revisit the earlier finding to explore which aspects of family-ness have the most impact on institutional investment.

Congratulations again to both Professor Jean Essila and Professor Richard Schneible!!
