One of the Phi Kappa Phi benefits I discovered today was the periodic offering of Webinars, online seminars discussing important skills for the workplace.  These can be attended from the comfort of your chair, wherever you are at that moment.  All you need is access to a computer and a phone line for the audio portion. 

Today I participated in the Webinar:  "60 Seconds and You're Hired," featuring Robyn Ryan, America's top career counselor.  She has appeared on NBC Nightly News, Fox news, CNN, and CNBC. 

Ryan discussed how to prepare for an interview in such a way that the prospective employer remembers your strengths.  She gave practical advice for establishing your career identity; avoiding pitfalls; answering difficult questions; and what questions to ask.  Ryan's key to success is to open and close the interview with a 60-second snapshot which includes what you want to do in the job and your top five selling points or accomplishments you are proud of.  This technique cements a good first and last impression in the interviewers' minds.
