Undergraduate Research Council
The Undergraduate Research Council is group of faculty members from various parts of the university which advises and directs the S3 program.  In Winter of 2007, URC began the strategic planning process for S3 which identifies the purpose of S3 as the following:

The purpose of the S3 program is to provide a transformative educational experience for undergraduate students.

Student Summer Scholars provides an avenue for active participation in both discipline specific and interdisciplinary research and creative projects.

The collaborative, student-centered nature of S3 projects engenders intellectual independence in students, rather than focusing on faculty development.

The 2009-2010 URC Committee includes:

Lisa Hickman, Sociology
Rachel Powers, Chemistry
Jeremy Robinson, Modern Languages and Literature
Andrew Schlewitz, Latin American Studies
Dwayne Tunstall, Philosophy
Peter Wampler, Geology
Judy Whipps, Liberal Studies
