Brochure

The Regional Math and Science Center (RMSC) at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) invites educators, parents, and librarians in West Michigan to explore and utilize the Center’s Discovering STEM kits.

Discovering STEM kits support teachers, parents, and volunteers in finding new and exciting ways to teach STEM-related curricula in and out of the classroom setting. Each kit includes one or more activities and all the materials needed to engage children in critical thinking, inquiry-based exploration of new ideas, or games to develop conceptual understanding and procedural fluency. All activities are hands and minds-on; they encourage collaboration among students and adults. All kits align with the Common Core State Standards. Science and Engineering kits also align with The Next Generation Science Standards.

The Math Kits Sessions will focus on Math Kits in the collection. Each date is dedicated to a specific grade band. Beyond learning about the kits and how kits can be used in classrooms and other events beyond the classroom, participants will engage in several of the activities they can use with young learners.
