GVSU mourns the loss of Jerry Brower

Mr. Jerry J. Brower, age 72, formerly of Whitehall, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016. He was born on November 25, 1944 to Julius and Margaret (Peckham) Brower. Jerry was a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Grand Valley State University for over 20 years. Jerry Brower began his employment at Grand Valley State University in August 1989 as an Adjunct faculty member in Physics. In August 1991, he became a Visiting Instructor and an Instructor in August 2000. He retired in December 2006.
He received his BA in Physics from GVSU, his Master's Degree in Public Administration from W.M.U., and his PHD from Kingston University in London, England. Jerry was also formerly with the Muskegon County Sheriff's Department. He was an avid photographer, off roader and an accomplished musician, but foremost came his family and friends. SURVIVORS include his 2 sons, Patrick (Connie) Brower and Michael Brower; grandchildren, Robert, Christina and Feilen; and his former spouse, Patricia A. Brower. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100.
