Our Adult Learn to Swim Program is a good home for you if you fit one or more of the following criteria: "You have a fear of the water "You can't swim at all "You don't know any of the swimming strokes "You can swim for very short distances but you get exhausted We keep this class at 1 instructor for 3 participants. Let Campus Recreation partner with you to teach you how to swim. Class is open to participants 17 years old and older. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

Description:
GVSU's HIIT class will be for those looking to increase their aerobic capacity, muscular endurance and strength. Our HIIT class will focus on peak intensity exercises with short breaks, followed by repeated cycles. Some formats you can expect are Tabata, Every Minute On The Minute (EMOM), and more! Spots are limited to just 12 participants so make sure to sign up before the class fills up! Classes start 1/31 at 12:00PM till 1:15PM and will be meeting in Weight room B-009.

Our coaches will create a progressive workout program, instruct you on these workouts, and hold you accountable to help you achieve new strengths! Promoting and Understanding Staying Physically Active & Healthy (PUSH)

Description:
This program is a 10 week cohort model exercise support group. The duration of the program focuses on different barriers female-identified students face that prohibit physical activity and different ways to combat these barriers. Along with PUSHing through barriers, participants will workout in a group setting once a week, have in depth conversations about their experiences with their fitness journey, and discuss how to improve and reach their fitness goals. PUSH was designed to motivate, educate, and most importantly SUPPORT students. Classes will take place Wednesdays from 5:45p-6:45p in the Instructional Fitness Studio located in the Rec Center room D030.

Having trouble figuring out what exercises to do or what programs to follow? Curious about the proper techniques to maximize strength gains and minimize injury? GVSU small group training will be offering Introductory Strength once a week on Wednesdays from 6:30PM to 7:45PM in Weight room B-009. Our coaches will teach you the correct form and progressions for all our main compound movements and will create an individualized strength program. Classes will be limited to 12 participants so sign up soon before all our spots get filled up!

Adult CPR/AED BLENDED COURSE: Web-based and Classroom

The Adult CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies for victims about 12 years and older. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Adult CPR/AED valid for two years. The online portion of this blended course features award-winning simulation learning  an interactive experience where you will respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting  which will prepare you for the instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a Flash-enabled PC with a high speed Internet connection. Allow 1 hour to complete the online portion if you are new to CPR/AED training or 25 minutes if you have previously received certification. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a digital certificate for Adult CPR/AED valid for two years. Wednesday, February 15 @ 6pm-7pm Location: Fieldhouse Classroom TBD Wear comfortable clothing as we will be doing skill practice on manikins. This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. The online portion of this blended course features award-winning simulation learning  an interactive experience where you will respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting  which will prepare you for the instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a Flash-enabled PC with a high speed Internet connection. Allow 2 hours 45 minutes to complete the online portion if you are new to First Aid/CPR/AED training or 55 minutes if you have previously received certification. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.
