Club Sports Marketing and Promotion Internship

Position Description

This position works up to 25 hours per week. Main responsibilities include: execution and management of all club sports marketing initiatives, game day promotions, oversight of club sports social media and other departmental communications, working home events as a supervisor, and administrative work with club leadership. This position reports to the Club Sports Coordinator.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled GVSU student.
  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications required for the position. CPR/First Aid Certified is provided if hired. 
  • Strong organization, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others, as an individual, and as part of a team.
  • Attending trainings, meetings, and in-services are required.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Demonstrated previous marketing experience and the ability to navigate social media
  • Proficient use of marketing and promotion softwares such as Canva and Adobe 
  • Photography experience
  • Game announcing experience or willingness to learn and do it
  • Background in sports, recreation, graphic design, marketing, and/or related field

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the marketing schedule with the goal of increasing the overall awareness of the Club Sport brand, interactions, and team recognition. 
  • Create initiatives to increase Club Sport social media presence and followers. Work with staff, coaches, and student-athletes to implement ideas.
  • Execute in-game promotions in efforts to increase fan attendance and fan interactions at home events
  • Attend home events with the purpose of gathering content, creating highlight reels, interviewing teams, and announcing when requested
  • Provide administrative support to all club marketing efforts including, but not limited to branding/apparel approvals, website updates, blog posts, newsletter, club sport cup, and other communications
  • Submit blog posts to the Lanthorn when requested
  • Execute game day events as an Event Supervisor when requested
  • Maintain the professional standard for delivery of all programs. Appearance must be professional and supervisors are required to wear staff-issued/approved attire.
  • Follow all Recreation and Wellness policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Student Wage Rates:

SPM 390 & 490 applicable

This is a paid internship for the Fall ‘24/Winter ‘25 full school year.  Hourly rate is $12.43.
