Researchers are responsible for obtaining appropriate approval with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) before conducting research involving human subjects. Some studies may be considered exempt from the requirements in the Federal regulations; decisions about whether studies are exempt must be made by an IRB or an appropriate institutional official. Please refer to the Code of Federal Regulations for more.
