Training

Mandatory training must be done before starting work with radioactive materials or radiation emitting devices. This training will correspond to the individuals assigned duties and Grand Valleys Radiation Safety Program. A refresher training course should also be taken annually to ensure safe use. Students enrolled in classes involving radiation may take the training if radiation safety instruction is part of their coursework, identified in the syllabus and is given by an Authorized User, the Radiation Safety Officer or another individual approved by the Radiation Safety Committee.

Initial Training:

All Authorized Users and Radiation Workers must complete the initial training regardless of any previous radiation safety training. The training consists of general safety principles in regards to radioactive material or radiation emitting devices and Grand Valleys specific policies and procedures. This training is completed through the use of Blackboard.
