SPRING/SUMMER RESIDENT ASSISTANT POSITION
Up to eleven Spring/Summer Resident Assistants are hired each year to serve general students residing on the Allendale and Pew campuses, as well as support our Oliver Wilson Scholars Summer program. Spring/Summer RAs will be provided an on-campus unit in their respective communities and meal plan.
Eligibility Requirements:
-Candidates must have previous Resident Assistant experience in Housing & Residence Life at GVSU
-Candidates must be enrolled in Spring/Summer 2024 -OR- Fall 2024 courses at GVSU
-Candidates must hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and be in good conduct/performance standing with HRL.
-Candidates must be able to fulfill the requirements and duties as outlined in the Spring/Summer 2024 RA Contract
We prioritize candidates who have not held the spring/summer RA position previously and are not returning to the role in the Fall but all current RAs are eligible as long as they are not graduating in April. Demonstrated skill in facilities, systems, and operational aspects of the RA role is fundamental to the Spring/Summer RA position in particular.
Spring/Summer RA Position Types
Allendale (South Apartments)
Housing & Residence Life plans to hire 4 resident assistants to serve in the South Apartments Community for the Spring/Summer 2024 academic term. RAs in this community will be responsible for supporting summer residents through duty, programming, and outreach. These RAs will also assist in the transition between semesters by completing RCRs and other administrative duties of opening and closing.
Pew Campus (Winter/Secchia)
Housing & Residence Life plans to hire 4 resident assistants to serve in the Winter and Secchia Community for the Spring/Summer 2024 academic term. RAs in this community will be responsible for supporting summer residents through duty, programming, and outreach. These RAs will also assist in the transition between semesters by completing RCRs and other administrative duties of opening and closing. The downtown campus will also support summer guests and interns residing in the halls.
Oliver Wilson (Maple, Oak, Pine)
Housing & Residence Life plans to hire 3 resident assistants to serve in Maple, Oak, and Pine for the Spring/Summer 2024 academic term in support of the Oliver Wilson Scholars program. This program will run late June until mid August. RAs selected for this type of position will have some minor responsibilities early in the semester but should plan to be more available once the program begins.
