I live on the Allendale Campus, but have classes downtown. Do I need a Pew Campus permit to park there? No, your Allendale Resident permit is valid in the student lots and ramp at the Pew Campus. You do not need two permits. This is also for Pew Campus residents attending classes in Allendale. Your Pew Resident permit is valid in the student lots on Allendale. You never need two permits. Where can I park overnight? (3:00am to 7:00am.) Overnight parking is only permitted in Residential lots, and you must have a Residential permit. I have a visitor. Do they need a permit and if so, where do they park? Yes, they need a permit which will allow them to park in any of our Residential lots, these permits are available at Public Safety 24/7. Visitors are allowed 20 days of parking permits per academic year at no cost. Please have your guest notify us if you are a Calder resident, as there is a special permit issued. How will my visitors & parents know where to park on campus? It is your responsibility to make sure they park in the proper lots while visiting. Please have your guest notify us if you are a Calder resident, as there is a special permit issued. Where can I park on the weekends? You may park in any commuter student and Faculty/Staff parking lot during the day, but you must have your vehicle back in a resident lot overnight. I do not live in Calder Residence. Can I park in Lot O? No, Lot O is parking only for Calder residents. If you are an on-campus resident you may park in any lot except Lot O. Can I pull up to my building to load and unload my car? 15 minutes are allowed in front of Kirkpatrick, Stafford, Swanson & Seidman living centers as well as Laker Village Apartments ONLY. You must call into Public Safety and document your pull-up to get the 15 minute privilege. All other buildings must use the meters. I am bringing a car to campus for a few days and don't have a regular permit. What do I do? You will need to stop into Public Safety or Pew Security and get a temporary permit. All students are allowed 20 days of temporary permits per academic year at no cost. Temporary permits are available 24/7 at both locations. DO NOT PARK YOUR VEHICLE ON CAMPUS WITHOUT A PERMIT! How many days can I have a temporary permit and how much do they cost? Students may use a temporary parking permit for a maximum of 20 days per academic year free of charge. If you need a permit for longer than 20 days, you will need to purchase a permanent permit. If I have a parking permit for Fall semester, will I have to buy a new one for Winter. If you are registered for winter classes, you will automatically be charged based upon your number of credit hours. If you do not need your permit for Winter, you will need to return it by the 5th day of classes for 100% refund. Can I return my permit if I don't need it? Yes, you can return your permit. For 100% refund, you must return it by the 5th day of classes. After that, refunds follow the tuition refund schedule for 75%, 50% and then none. I am replacing my windshield or changing cars. Do I need to bring my permit back and get a new one? No, all you need to do is take the permit with you and move it to your new vehicle. The new permits are designed to be transferable. My permit isn't sticking to my windshield anymore. What do I do? Rub the permit on a piece of clothing, preferably wool. This will refresh the cling of the permit. Also cleaning the inside of the windshield periodically helps too. When is Public Safety open? Public Safety never closes! We are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. There is always someone here to answer your parking questions!
