The holidays that are starred (*) indicate a national holiday, and businesses are generally closed.  It is important to prepare for such occurrences.   • New Year's Day:  January 1st
  • Birthday of Martin Luther King:  Third Monday in January
  • Inauguration Day:  January 20th every four years
  • Groundhog's Day:  February 2nd
  • Valentine's Day:  February 14th
  • President's Day:  The third Monday in February
  • Easter*:  Varies depending on year (usually between late-March and late-April)
  • April Fool's Day:  April 1st
  • Mother's Day:  Second Sunday in May
  • Memorial Day:  The last Monday in May, to honor those who died while serving in the military
  • Flag Day:  June 14th
  • Father's Day:  The third Sunday in June
  • Independence Day:  July 4
  • Labor Day:  The first Monday in September
  • Columbus Day:  The second Monday in October
  • Halloween:  October 31st
  • Election Day:  on or after November 2
  • Veteran's Day:  November 11th
  • Thanksgiving Day*:  The fourth Thursday in November (many businesses remain closed the following days as well)
  • Christmas Day*:  December 25th
