Translating your driver's license

If you have a driver's license from another country (other than Canada), please make sure that it is translated into English. Having a translated driver's license will speed up your application for a Michigan driver's license. If you are already in the US and want to get your license translated, you can do so at GVSU Department of Modern Languages & Literatures 331-3203.  *You cannot translate your own documents.

Michigan Identification Card (Age 18 or older)

Michigan Identification Cards are issued to non-driving residents for identification purposes instead of a Michigan drivers license.  If you are planning on staying at Grand Valley for more than a year, you may want to get a Michigan ID to serve as an identification document.

For a list of  requirements for a Michigan Identification Card please visit the Secretary of State's website

The cost of the Michigan Identification Card is $10. Keep in mind that the Secretary of State does not accept credit or debit cards. Payment must be in cash, check or money order.
