Studies in Trans-Atlantic International Relations Project

STAIR--Studies in Trans-Atlantic International Relations is a new project, starting Dec. 31, 2008, that fosters student and faculty exchange and collaboration with European partner universities in the area of International Relations. Most of the funding for the first four years of the project comes from the US-EU Atlantis Fund. The total grant is Approx. $1 million in funding from the EU (408,000 Euros to our EU partners, Krakow Univ. of Economics and Univ. of Debrecen--Hungary) and from the US Dept. of Education/FIPSE: $408,000 to GVSU).

GVSU is excited to get stepping on the STAIR treads for the students, who'll benefit greatly. In short, GVSU will be hosting Hungarian and Polish students here for focused study in International Relations, and GVSU IR students will spend a semester in each of our partner schools. Those students who spend that year abroad will get a joint degree--a US (GVSU) I.R. major as well as an EU Bachelors-level I.R. major. Non-exchanging IR students will benefit, too, from the faculty exchanges and collaboration.Atlantis Programme is a cooperative enterprise between the U.S. Departmentof Education and the European Commission

Students will have the option to obtain a dual degree from the Cracow University of Economics.  Please consult the 'Dual Degree' information below to learn about required courses.  If you have any questions, please contact:
