Eric Chelstrom completed his Ph.D. in philosophy at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York in 2010. His dissertation examined collective intentionality from the perspective of Husserlian phenomenology, with emphasis on how a Husserlian understanding of collective intentionality offers a more comprehensive view of intersubjectivity. He also has an M.A. from Northern Illinois University.
Eric’s primary research interests are in phenomenology, social ontology, aesthetics and philosophy of mind. His current work focuses on how consciousness and intentionality play a constitutive role in the social world, its objects and institutions (especially aesthetic objects), as well as the role of horizon intentionality in constituting social phenomena. He is currently working on articles considering the intentionality of friendship and of works of art, in addition to a book prospectus based on his dissertation research. |
