Student Services Advising and Outreach
The Seymour & Esther Padnos College of Engineering and Computing (PCEC) Student Services is a relatively new entity, having started during the 2006-2007 academic year. During the 2008-2009 academic years, Students Services was expanded and re-organized. Student Services includes college level advising and K-12 outreach activities which jointly serves both the School of Engineering and the School of Computing and Information Systems.
The PCEC Advising Team consists of two Coordinators and a Graduate Assistant. Advising for pre-engineering majors is primarily offered at the Kennedy Hall of Engineering on the Pew Campus. Advising for pre-computer science majors and pre-information systems majors is primarily offered at the Mackinaw Hall on the Allendale Campus. Through the development of the PCEC student services, over 94% of the PCEC faculty thought that both the faculty and students benefit from the availability of staff in academic advising centers.
The PCEC Outreach Team consists of a Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator, and a Graduate Assistant. This team’s primary objective is to generate and support activities that recruit students to the engineering and computing fields. These activities include interactive presentations, summer camps, career fairs, workshops, and expositions.
All PCEC Student Services activities are designed to fulfill our mission and are consistent with our vision and values. PCEC Student Services is directed by the Assistant Dean of Padnos College of College of Engineering and Computing.
