While you are not required to live on campus we encourage first-year students to live on campus to more easily become involved in university life their first year away from home.

The Registrar's Student Assistance Centers in Grand Rapids and Allendale, serve as one stop, centralized service centers committed to serving the Grand Valley student from the point of admission through graduation and beyond.
The Tutoring Center seeks to facilitate students' academic gain and to develop self-directed, independent learners. To accomplish this goal the Tutoring Center provides free tutoring to all Grand Valley State University students in most 100- and 200- level courses. Tutorials are conducted in small group settings.
Visit the Fred Meijer Center for Writing and Michigan Authors for help with writing for any of your classes, at any stage of your writing process. The center's well-trained peer consultants can help you to brainstorm ideas, organize content, integrate research, polish a draft, and correctly document sources.
