Biography of Denise Meier

Denise P. Meier, MA, OTR
Visiting Assistant Professor


Denise P. Meier, MA, OTR is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy at Grand Valley State University. She has taught in the program since its inception and is primarily responsible for the pediatric content. Improving students’ writing abilities is a strong area of interest. Denise is involved with facilitating alumni activities for the occupational therapy program.

Educated at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, Denise received her bachelors and masters degree in occupational therapy. Recently, she has begun classes toward her OTD at Boston University.

Pediatrics is Denise’s area of expertise, with a focus on the birth to three population. In Muskegon, Denise is involved with the Early On Program, providing OT services to children and their families in the community. Her volunteer activities include the Parent-to-Parent Program at Spectrum Hospital which provides support for families with infants in the NICU and Denise is also a board member of ARC Muskegon, an advocacy agency for people with developmental disabilities and cognitive impairments.

Denise lives in Muskegon with her husband and two children. She enjoys reading, running, skiing, all types of water activities, and spending time with family members. Being born and raised in Muskegon, Denise believes west Michigan is a great place to live, work and raise a family.
