Student Chapter Activities
As in past years . . . the chapter and students were involved in a variety of project designed to benefit Grand Valley’s safety and health program as well as projects for industry. The following represent just a few of those projects:
J.J. Keller & Associates Grant The OSH program (for the ninth straight year) received software funding form the J.J. Keller & Associates Foundation. This year the funding has provided $40,000 dollars in safety compliance software access. Additionally, Keller is providing all OSH majors free access to their website and will permit students access to the website up to six months after graduation.
Summit Training Grant
For the second year in a row, Summit Training has provided free access to their training DVD’s ($2, 600) and is granting OSHM majors website access throughout the academic year. Summit Training is one of the top software sites for access to safety training software. Additionally, Summit has entered a training partnership with the OSH program which will provide proprietary funding for travel, equipment, and other needs.
Currently, eighteen students are receiving the OSHA 30 Training Workshop as part of the OSH 330 course. This training gives students valuable insights into what OSHA wants on a regulatory level and how that differs from a given organization’s needs.
Washington Egronomics Grant
Third year the OSH program has received at cost, full access to the Washington Ergonomics Education, Evaluation, and Training websit. (Valued at $4,000).
