Instructions for Nominating Students

Director Track Information

The ONLINE NOMINATION FORM is now ready.  Directors must fill it out before the deadline of September 29, 2012.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS-READ CAREFULLY:

• Before you nominate, check with each of your nominees to make absolutely sure that she/he can and will attend this event if selected.  Once a nominee who been accepted cancels, the high school director is requested to fill the position with an equally-qualified student.
• Please nominate only students who are leaders in your orchestra or who have this potential.
• You may nominate up to 4 violins, 3 violas, 2 cellos, and 2 basses.  Be sure to list them in order of ability and note if they have been selected for All-State or are in a Youth Orchestra.
• We will notify high school directors of student acceptance no later than October 1.  Each school with nominees is guaranteed at least one accepted student.
• Please make sure that each accepted student practices his/her part diligently before Leadership Day.  Students who do not know their part may feel out of place.
• IMPORTANT: If your top student(s) are interested in performing for our faculty during a Master Class, please send me an email (duitmanh@gvsu.edu) letting me know all pertinent information.

REMINDERS:

• There is no registration fee.
• Lunch will be provided but the students should have money for their dinner. There are several fast food restaurants within walking distance on campus.
• Lodging is not provided.

The entire day, including the luncheon, is free of charge to all high school directors who have student participants in String Leadership Day.  However, you must let Henry Duitman know if you are attending the luncheon.  Email duitmanh@gvsu.edu no later than September 29 if you wish to attend the luncheon.
