2-3-12: Marybeth Wardrop needed computer equipment moved in her new EC office.  I temporarily fixed it for her but needed to find a permanent solution for the cabling.  I was talking to Jerry about her office usage (because Jerry knows just about everything).  I had to explain to Jerry the situation (because he always asks questions); Brian suggested a better alternative solution. Brian provided me with the materials I needed. Jerry was kind to let me into Marybeth’s office to complete my work.  Brian and Jerry are always helpful and willing to help where they can.  We appreciate all that they do to support IT.

2-3-12: Jason has come in handy multiple times during weekend events. Just this past weekend, lights were out in DeVos, and with a quick phone call - Jason was to the rescue. He was able to not only turn on the lights in Building D, but fix my mistake of permanently turning them all off!

2-2-12: Wow! What great colleagues to help out so many times! Today, while setting up the Provost's convocation event, the plant was over watered and the equipment was [at] risk.  Steffen and Charles were so quick to help make sure that all was safe and with our scarce resources, it is so important that equipment is not at risk.

1-16-12: I wanted to let you know that the GVSU staff member Gordy really did a great job in reorganizing the shelves and cupboards. He and another staff member came in early this morning and did the work, then he returned later this morning to confirm with me that everything was done satisfactorily. In addition, he went the extra step to point out a potential confound in the way my equipment was set up. He really cares about his job and seeing that my lab is arranged for maximal efficiency. It makes a positive difference to know that our support staff really care about us!

On Sunday, July 26, 2009 at approximately 11:30hrs., Pew Campus Security made contact with Operations Service Staff, Dave VanDenBrink, regarding low air pressure on one of the Security vehicle tires (driver's-side rear tire, 2007 Dodge Caliber). VanDenBrink inspected and repaired the tire (i.e. removed small piece of metal from tire, installed tire patch and filled tire to the correct pressure).

I want to thank Jerry for helping me keep my sanity last Thursday!  There was a loud buzzing noise coming from one of the computers in our office.  After several of us in the office pulled every wire possible, the noise was still there.  I made several calls to IT, CQL and anyone I thought could help, with no luck.  After about an hour of this "buzzing" and the CSO staff going crazy - I called Jerry.  He came over and plucked around under the desk with all those computer wires and figured out the back up battery was low.  He unplugged it and the noise stopped and our office was extremely grateful - especially me!

Brittany and Charles really are wonderful people and even though I caused the problem by running over the glass bottle while parking during a cell phone call, they were so very quick to get to the glass and make sure that I, my tires and everyone else could be safe.  They really are special and have a deep understanding of people and are very patient with some of the weirder requests (as well as extremely knowledgeable and efficient at their work).  It's such a unique place where we can be ourselves and have colleagues like them just accept us with all of our imperfections!  Thanks Brittany and Charles for making yet another day for me!

Lynn and I want to share with you what a great job Thomas, Steffen and Amy did today turning the room around for the wedding reception tonight.  We had the bride's family here at 11:30a to start decorating and corporate clients still in the house.  We adjusted the clients room and the service staff went to work getting it ready for the family to decorate.

On behalf of Dean Plotkowski, Padnos College of Engineering and Computing, and myself, we would like to express our gratitude to all who assisted with the First Robotics Social on March 21st. While the inclement weather may have reduced the number of teams in attendance, those who attended were enthusiastic and treated to bounce toys, food, and tours of Kennedy Hall of Engineering.  The "cement" that held it all together was the staff and volunteers who helped with the logistics and security, including  those working hard to keep pace with snow removal, assisting participants and bus drivers with navigating the area, and the set-up and removal of the power generator. Without these efforts, the First Robotics Social could not have run as smoothly and safely as it did.  Thanks to all involved!

Steffen and Charles were extremely accommodating during this year's Indulge event. We changed our minds on chairs twice which wasn't an easy task for them. They helped us out several times and with a smile every time! Thanks guys!!!Thanks to Brian and Chad for shoveling the patio of the Regency Garden for an event on 2/5! We had a special request to have it shoveled for luminarias to be placed outside. They were more than happy to help out and I really appreciated it (and so did the client)!! Thanks!! I just really wanted to say thank you to Thomas to going above and beyond the call of customer service to my client while they were setting up on Friday. They made several last minute changes and he was more than willing to oblige. He even went as far as making suggestions and alternatives to how they could make their situation work. My client commented numerous times on how helpful and friendly he was. Thanks again!!! Krista was a huge help when I needed square footage and floor plans at the last minute for a meeting. On Saturday January 3rd at approximately 3:30 I contacted Chad Kellogg. I received a phone call from Maggie (winter hall front desk staff) and she asked if there was anyone who might have a dolly to assist a resident in moving a large piece of furniture that was in violation of their fire code. When I contacted Kellogg he said that they do have one in winter hall and that he would head over there and take it out of their storage room. He called me back a short time later and stated that he had taken care of it. I really appreciated his help. Thanks!

Just wanted to let you know that I stopped my car at the Eberhard Center this weekend for a few minutes to see what was wrong with the release lever that opens the door to provide access to my gas cap. Talk about panic - I was sure that I was going to have to drive to the car dealership way east of the airport with very little gas in the tank! Tom Falsetta happened to walk over and asked if he could help. Within 2 minutes he had it fixed and told me what to do to keep it from happening again! I sure appreciated it. He saved me a lot of stress - thanks, much:)

 I was printing to the main printer in your office and was having issues with the color. Brittany showed me how to save it as a picture in a program that she had so she could print one at her desk for me. The color was much better and having it printed helped me to be prepared just in time for a meeting. This was beyond my expectations and was extremely helpful. Thank you Brittany!

I was getting onto the elevator at the Eberhard Center with an overflowing armload of stuff. Laurie was getting off and noticed me struggling. She stayed in the elevator, held the door for me, asked me what floor I was going to, pushed the button to send me on my way, and quietly exited, on her way again. I appreciate her going out of her way to help me! She had no idea how thankful I was for her small act of kindness.

Tom and Leo - Thanks so much for getting the heat turned down in the labs on Sunday, 2/12/06. When the College Goal Sunday took off and we filled the labs with people so quickly, the temperature shot up. Your response was so wonderful and such a nice contribution to the day! These were community members filling out FAFSA forms online and that can be such a frustrating experience without the heat making it worse. I couldn't believe we could get such a fast response and on a Sunday! Thanks!

This morning we found duct tape residue on the podium in Loosemore. It wasn't something we could fix in time for the event so I called Charles to switch out the podium with the podium in Regency. We then found out that the microphone holder didn't work on the new podium. Charles was able to unscrew the holder and replace it with the holder on the good podium! Charles saved the day! Thanks so much Charles!!!!

A big "thank you" to Steffen and Mark for quickly responding to a last-minute VIP event set-up. Both responded quickly to our office's request and also both took time to change light bulbs in the room, making sure everything was in great shape.

There is so much to say about all of our operations colleagues that is wonderful and positive. I'll start with my thanks to Erin, Jerry, and Jalyn for handling the key issues in the A building for us this past week. Everything was handled quickly and their demeanor was friendly and helpful as always. Erin also took the time to thoughtfully look at the process to improve it as opposed to just fixing it. Thanks so much for helping secure the IT resources. I'll be writing on this page for a year about everyone in your department because they all go so many extra miles for the Pew Campus Community.
