Online and Hybrid Courses

Where do I find a list of available courses?

There are a few different types of online courses offered or hosted by Grand Valley.

Through the Continuing Education department, you'll find:

Educator's Hot Topics (graduate education - for GVSU credit)

Not-for-Credit Professional Development online workshops/programs

Grand Valley academic (for-credit) courses

To find courses that are available in the online or hybrid format, use the Class Schedule Search. Instructions are as follows: (please note that the following are screenshots so you are aware of what Banner looks like.)

2. Highlight the subject(s) you are interested in taking online and select "Online" or "Hybrid" for Instructional Method. (Hint: Use the Ctrl-key to select several.)

You should now see a list of available classes meeting the instructional method(s) of your choosing. Note the specifics:

A course that is fully online will be listed as shown: Under "Where" is "Online" with the semester date range and schedule type.

This does not mean that you will not have a "synchronous" class expectation, but you will not be required to come to an in-seat on-campus meeting.

A course that is designated as hybrid online will specificy "Hybrid Online" under "Where" and will also list any dates that the class is meeting on campus. The Time and Days are listed followed by the Building/Room number, followed by the pecific dates for each meeting.

In addition, your professor may require or request synchronous class sessions, but the listed dates are the only times when you will be required to come to campus for an in-seat class meeting.
