				<title>GVSU Named Top Military Friendly School </title>

				<title>Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce ATHENA Scholarship Deadline: May 4th </title>

							<p><font face="Arial">The Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce ATHENA Scholarship is unique.<br /><br />
It is a cash scholarship given to women over the age of 30 who are completing their education, and can be used for whatever will help in that process, whether it&rsquo;s childcare, tuition, transportation expenses or books.<br /><br />
</font><font face="Arial"></font></p><br />
<p><font face="Arial">The announcement of recipients will be made in June and the funds distributed at the ATHENA Award luncheon on September 18, 2012. The ATHENA Scholarships are made possible by Huntington Bank and corporate sponsorship of the ATHENA Award Luncheon, as well as corporate and individual contributions to the ATHENA Scholarship Fund.<br /><br />

<p><font face="Arial"><u>The scholarship applicant must</u>:<br /><br />
&bull; Be a female working to complete her education<br /><br />
&bull; Be at least 30 years or older<br /><br />
&bull; Plan to continue her education in a Grand Rapids area accredited 4-year, 2-year, technical or<br /><br />
vocational program, or graduate program, which should demonstrate a commitment to a professional, business or entrepreneurial career<br /><br />
&bull; Have a record of academic performance, completed at least one term or semester with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, balanced with volunteer experiences, outside interests, and experiences<br /><br />
&bull; Have a financial need, and filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, <font face="Arial">or FAFSA <font face="Arial">(available at <a href="http://www.FAFSA.gov">www.FAFSA.gov</a>).</font></font></font></p><br />

							<p><font face="Arial">The Lakeshore ATHENA Scholarship is a cash award given to assist non-traditional women students pursuing advanced training and educational opportunities. The scholarship is part of the Lakeshore ATHENA Award, a collaborative program of the Holland, Muskegon and Grand Haven/Spring Lake/Ferrysburg Chambers of Commerce. The scholarships are made possible through the generous support of individual and corporate sponsors.</font></p><br />
<p><font face="Arial">Applicants Must:<br /><br />
&bull; Be a female who has completed at least one year of post secondary education or the equivalent by May 31, 2012.<br /><br />
&bull; Be at least 30 years or older.<br /><br />
&bull; Be enrolled for the fall semester of 2012 at an accredited 4 year, 2 year, or technical or vocational program.<br /><br />
&bull; Show a commitment to a educational attainment and a professional career.<br /><br />

<p>&nbsp;</p><br />
<p>Sharalle Arnold, director of the Children's Enrichment Center&nbsp;will be walking on&nbsp;April 19, 2012 from 7am - 6pm at the Kelly Turf Building in an effort to raise awareness and funds for the CEC Scholarship Endowment Fund.&nbsp; This fund will go to help pay for child care expenses&nbsp;of GVSU parent students.&nbsp; Research shows that affording child care is the primary obstacle for completion of higher education degrees. The CEC is asking for your support.&nbsp; </p><br />
<p>Ways you can help is to donate to the CEC Scholarship Fund or register to walk on the 19th.&nbsp; You can walk anytime between 7am and 6pm for as long as you like.&nbsp; While you walk Sharalle will share information about the struggles of student parents and how you can be an advocate for them on campus.&nbsp; All registered walkers will receive a t-shirt and the&nbsp;realization that they are &quot;Walking the Talk&quot;.</p><br />

				<title>Grand Forum Scholarship Deadline is Oct. 31st!</title>

							<p><font face="Arial"><strong>Grand Forum Scholarship Information</strong></font></p><br />
<p><font face="Arial"><strong>Award and Eligibility:<br /><br />
</strong>&nbsp;$1,250 for the semester.<br /><br />
&nbsp;Must be returning to college at GVSU as an undergraduate student, preferably, after<br /><br />
four years of interrupted college studies. Previous GVSU students must have a minimum<br /><br />
of 24 prior credits.<br /><br />
&nbsp;Transfer candidates must have a minimum of 24 transferable previously earned college<br /><br />
credits.<br /><br />
&nbsp;Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student with a minimum academic class load of<br /><br />
three hours.<br /><br />
&nbsp;Must demonstrate financial need as defined by government programs and must file the<br /><br />
Free Application for Federal Student Aid.</font></p><br />
<p><strong>How to Apply:<br /><br />
</strong>&nbsp;Submit a 1-2 page essay on the prior educational experiences and student&rsquo;s need for<br /><br />
the scholarship.<br /><br />
&nbsp;Applications are now being accepted and must be sent to the Financial Aid Office by<br /><br />
October 31. Students who receive the scholarship must reapply for the scholarship<br /><br />
each semester.<br /><br />
