Arts at Noon: Jim Cooper Quartet

The quartet is comprised of four of the top jazz players in the state:

  • Jim Cooper, vibes and marimba
  • Robin Connell, piano
  • Warren Jones, bass
  • Randy Marsh, drums

The Jim Cooper Quartet is a new group of West Michigan jazz musicians.  The group features Jim Cooper on vibraphone and marimba, Robin Connell on piano/vocals, Warren Jones on acoustic bass and  Randy Marsh on drums. Members of the quartet are known as leaders in their own right, as well as composers and educators.

The quartet features two ArtPrize Critics Choice winners for jazz composition, Cooper: Third Circle (2016) and Connell: Prism (2017).

The quartet performs these compositions as well as other original pieces from Cooper and Connell, as well as unique arrangements and vocalizations of jazz standards, combining jazz, Latin and world music influences.
