Dr. Jed David Watson
Jed David Watson joined the GVSU Music faculty in 2007 as an Adjunct Professor, and his teaching responsibilities in the general music education program have included Introduction to Music Literature, Exploring American Music, and Fundamentals of Music.
A cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, he received his master's degree in choral conducting from Norwich University as well as Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Boston University School of Theology. A soloist on Baroque recorder, his principal teachers include some of this country's foremost performers on the instrument.
Dr. Watson's career includes positions as music director in large membership churches, instrumental and vocal/choral teacher at all levels from elementary school through college, conductor of a respected community chorus and orchestra, and freelance performer. His reviews of new music appeared in The Choral Journal for many years.
A strong advocate of lifelong learning and venturing beyond the boundaries of one's area of expertise, over recent years Dr. Watson has completed certificates in paralegal studies, advanced paralegal studies, and human resource management from three colleges.
