"Well planned and organized!....I enjoyed listening to all talented people and all the advice and guidance they gave."
"Meeting oboists and bassoonists from all walks of life at the GVSU Double Reed Day was a wonderful experience for me. Being given the chance to play for Mr Daniel Stolper was the ultimate for me! Coming all the way from Singapore, I've only heard of him and his wonderful reputation. Playing for him was a fantastic learning experience. Nothing beats meeting him in person! I hope for more wonderful learning experiences at future DRDs!" - Mezraq Ramli (GVSU student)
"Grand Valley's Double Reed Day was great. I really enjoyed the oboe clinics done by both Professor Stolper and Dr. Vavrikova. Professor Stolper's technique was excellent and his beautiful tone was inspiring. I learned a lot from him and the other guests that came to our Double Reed Day. It was also a lot of fun playing in such a large double reed ensemble with the bassoons and English horns." - Kaitlyn Williams (GVSU student)
"GVSU's first Double Reed Day was certainly exciting and educational. Compared to last year's Oboe Day, the group was enormous. I feel that not only was everything so organized and well-planned, everyone learned so much and still had fun. Everyone had a positive attitude and had a smile on their face. I'm so anxious to see how many come to next year's Double Reed Day. This not only helped the guest oboists and bassoonists learn about their instrument, but it also helped me and the other oboe studio students learn about teaching for the future." - Kristen Wheeler (GVSU student)
"I've wanted to learn how to make reeds for a long time and now I feel like I have a good head start (and a lot of things to learn)."
"[It] Was nice to have instruments looked over by a professional."
