Counseling is provided by full time professionals and augmented with dedicated and experienced volunteers who are able to share their expertise with our clients.
Small business assistance addresses many different issues, including:
- Developing growth strategies
- Preparing a business plan for financing or studying the feasibility of an idea
- Analyzing and solving cash flow issues
- Defining and quantifying marketing initiatives
- Preparing marketing and sales strategies
- Strategic planning
Training
Workshops are offered periodically for new venture and young businesses. These workshops are designed to provide a basic understanding of a variety of topics related to starting, operating, or expanding a business. Small business owners and professionals with specific small business expertise teach these workshops. Check our Calendar of Training for workshop descriptions, dates and registration.
Training programs can be developed in conjunction with Alpena Community College to address specific needs of individual businesses.
Research
As part of the MI-SBTDC network and through the State Headquarters at the Seidman College of Business Information Services at Grand Valley State University, we can access key data for developing a new company, or for assisting an existing firm to gain a competitive edge. Requests need to be made through an MI-SBTDC Region 3 Consultant.
