MIPERC Awards

Award Eligibility

Nominees must:

  • Be actively contributing towards the mission of interprofessional education
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities that promote the importance of interprofessional education/collaborative practice concepts to both students and peers
  • Be students, faculty, staff, health administrators, and/or preceptors associated with a MIPERC Organizational Member.

Award Categories

Student Award

Description: The Student Award provides the MIPERC an opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding commitment and contribution of a student to the mission of the MIPERC and the promotion of Interprofessional concepts in both educational and care settings.

MIPERC Mission: To identify ways that partners can develop collaborative, innovative, and Interprofessional initiatives across disciplines, learning institutions, and health care systems.

Basic Requirement: To be eligible, an individual must be actively contributing towards the mission of Interprofessional education through participation in IPE based events and programs.

Criteria: The selection committee’s considerations when selecting the award recipient may include the following qualities/characteristics: 

  • Actively participating in the IPE Student Certificate Program. 
  • Willingness to collaborate with students from other disciplines in an effort to become immersed in IPE concepts. 
  • Promoting Interprofessional care in the local or regional community. 
  • Being an enthusiastic role model and mentor for those interested in Interprofessional Education.

Faculty Award

Description: The Faculty Award provides the MIPERC an opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding commitment and contribution of a faculty member to the mission of the MIPERC and the promotion of Interprofessional concepts in both educational and care settings. MIPERC Mission: To identify ways that partners can develop collaborative, innovative, and Interprofessional initiatives across disciplines, learning institutions, and health care systems.

Basic Requirement: To be eligible, an individual must be actively contributing towards the mission of Interprofessional education and demonstrate leadership qualities that promote the importance of Interprofessional education concepts to both students and peers.

Criteria: The selection committee’s considerations when selecting the award recipient may include the following qualities/characteristics/activities: 

  • Lead, Present, Mentor students for Interprofessional experiences via a PIPES meeting, thesis committee, Health Expo, clinical rotation, or simulation 
  • Participate in a MIPERC workgroup 
  • Publish a peer reviewed Interprofessional article 
  • Promote Interprofessional care in the local or regional community. 
  • Promote Interprofessional care in the classroom and to colleagues. 
  • Be an enthusiastic role model for those interested in Interprofessional Education and collaborative practice.

Community Award

Description: The Community Award provides the MIPERC an opportunity to acknowledge outstanding commitment and contribution by a community member or organization to the mission of the MIPERC and the educational development of health profession students.

MIPERC Mission: To identify ways that partners can develop collaborative, innovative, and interprofessional initiatives across disciplines, learning institutions, and health care systems.

Basic Requirement: To be eligible, an individual or organization must be actively contributing towards the mission of the MIPERC.

Criteria: The selection committee’s considerations when selecting the award recipient include the following qualities/characteristics: 

  • Actively promoting interprofessional care in the local or regional community. 
  • Improving the health of at-risk populations. 
  • Implementing practices and programs to reduce the per capita costs of health care. 
  • Mentoring students in a collaborative practice model. 
  • Engaging in scholarship through research and/or documentation of interprofessional practice/care initiatives.

Nomination Criteria

Nominations must be submitted no later than Thursday, September 3rd, 2020 at 11:59 (EST).

Submission Process:

Candidates may be nominated by health administrators, staff, educators, students, and/or preceptors associated with the MIPERC academic partner programs.  Self nominations will also be accepted. The individual submitting the nomination must complete the electronic nomination form via the website of the Office of the Vice Provost for Health by the stated deadline.

Notification of Awards: September 11, 2020

Presentation of Awards: September 18, 2020 at the Midwest Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research Center Conference (Virtual).
