Health Forum of West Michigan

Health Forum of West Michgian

The Health Forum of West Michigan is hosted by the Office of the Vice Provost for Health at Grand Valley State University and is scheduled on the first Friday of each month during the academic year.  The fora are coordinated under the collaborative leadership of our community partners with sponsorship provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

The purpose of the Health Forum is to offer a venue for open discussion on health topics pertinent to the well-being of the community.

All Health Forum of West Michigan events are free and open to the public.

Upcoming Forums

We have concluded our series of events for the 2016/2017 academic year.   Our next Health Forum will take place in October 2017 and details will be posted on this page when they become available. We thank our participants, our many outstanding speakers and our breakfast sponsor, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, for supporting these important gatherings.

Over the past year over 1,000 individuals have participated in one or more of our Health Forum presentations. Our events have included topics such as virtual health and emerging technologies, opioid abuse, aging in place, Zika virus, social determinants of health, and human trafficking. We plan carefully to identify a diverse group of speakers to provide varying perspectives on each of these critical and/or emerging issues.  We believe each event encourages ongoing discussions and  collaborations enabling our community to work together in search of solutions to our health-related challenges and to develop innovations in care.

Our planning group will be working over the summer to develop another agenda of  informative speakers and compelling topics that are relevant to our community needs for  the 2017/2018 year.   We hope you will join us at a future Health Forum!!
