NOTICE

"In order not to conflict with the rescheduled Michigan Senior Amateur now set for Monday, Sept. 22, the inaugural West Michigan Senior Amateur at The Meadows has now moved to Oct. 5-6. Postponed last week due to record rainfall, the Michigan Senior Amateur has a number of players also entered in the West Michigan event. The West Michigan Senior Amateur's tee times will begin by flight at 8:30am on Sunday, Oct. 5. There will be a 9:00am shotgun start for the field on Monday, Oct. 6."

Sept. 21-22, 2008

Format: 36 holes stroke play
                  
Eligibility: 55 years of age and older; also includes 65 and older Super Senior division.

Pairings:  Done by flight.

Course length:  Senior 6,500 – 6,700 yards
                           Super Senior 6,100 – 6,300 yards

Flights:

Championship (Gross score--recommended for players with less than a 8.0 index)

First and Second Flights will be split in a manner that will create equal sized flights.  These flights will be scored off net scores using 80% of U.S.G.A. handicap.  Maximum 20.0 index.

Super Senior:  Can elect to play in either Super Senior or Senior
                          Division.  Must be declared before first round.

Entry Fee: $75. Includes 36 holes with cart, range balls, prizes and lunch on Sunday.  (Note: cart required for this event.)

Start times: 8 am shotgun start on Sunday and 9:00 am shotgun Monday

Conditions of Competition

ELIGIBILITY

Entries are open to the first 120 amateur golfers age fifty five and over with a USGA Handicap Index at the time of entry not exceeding 20.0 strokes. All entries must be mailed or dropped off in person to the golf shop at The Meadows GC, 4645 West Campus Drive, Allendale MI 49401.

Senior  Division:  Applicants must be age fifty five or above on September 21, 2008.

Super Senior: Applicants must be age sixty five or above on September 21, 2008.
 

SCHEDULE

Sunday, September 21 –  8:00 AM shotgun .  Groups will be paired in threesomes by flight and division.  Lunch to follow completion of round.     
Monday, September 22  -  9:00 AM Shotgun start.  Players will be paired by first round scores in threesomes by flight and division.  

Practice Round – A practice round is not included in the entry.  One round will be allowed at a reduced rate during certain times.  All other practice rounds will be played at regular rates.

The West Michigan Senior Amateur Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein.  The decision of the Championship Committee in any matter shall be final.

PRIZES

Will be awarded in the form of gift certificates.

ENTRIES:  FORM, FEE DEADLINE DATE

All entrants shall make application on West Michigan Senior Amateur forms.  Copies are acceptable. 

Entry fee of $75 shall be paid at time of application by every applicant.  No entries will be considered submitted unless accompanied by payment.  Entry fee will be refunded for any reason if The Meadows Golf Club is notified (616 895-1004) before September 14, 2008. After September 14, entry fee will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness verified by a doctor’s statement.  There will be a $10 service charge deducted from all refunds.  No refund will be granted for any reason after September 21.  Any player whose check is returned due to insufficient funds will have his entry denied and returned.

All entries should be mailed or dropped off in person to the golf shop at The Meadows Golf Club.   

CADDIES, AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION

An entrant may provide his own caddie for any phase of the Championship.  Automotive carts are required for this event.   

CONDITIONS OF PLAY

The West Michigan Senior Amateur Committee reserves the right to decline any entry.  Any person whose entry is accepted shall be subject to the rules and conditions of play set forth by the Committee.  The Committee reserves the right to alter the conditions or shorten the competition due to weather or other conditions warranting such action.  Any act of unsportsman like conduct will be cause for removal from the tournament or suspension from playing in future events.  No special provisions will be made for a player asking for special consideration due to other commitments. All committee decisions on such matters will be considered final.
