Pi Mu Epsilon

The Grand Valley State University Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon (PME) was installed on September 26th, 1998. At the installation ceremony thirty-five charter members were initiated. To be nominated for membership in Pi Mu Epsilon a student must meet the the following academic criteria:

He/she must possess an overall GPA of at least 3.3 and a mathematics GPA of at least 3.3.
He/she must have completed 18 credit hours toward the mathematics major. At least 9 of these credit hours must have been taken at Grand Valley State University and consist of mathematics or statistics courses at the level of MTH 203 (Calculus III) or higher that count toward our mathematics major.

New members are inducted into PME during the Mathematics Department end-of-year celebration ceremony which takes place around mid-April. Members receive a one-year subscription to the PME journal which showcases research articles written by students. PME members are also eligible to receive a generous travel support to the annual summer MathFest conference when they present a mathematical talk at the conference. Members may be eligible for partial support if they would like to attend the conference.
