Student Comments

Unsolicited comments by students about the department. Chosen because they are representative rather than exceptional, and because they are the fruit of goals that we intentionally pursue.

"The mathematics professors at Grand Valley are convinced that math can be fun, exciting, and beautiful. Their enthusiasm creates an environment where the students find out for themselves that it is possible for math to be fun."
"Returning to college at GVSU was a great experience. Not only were the math classes engaging but the interaction between the professors and students was amazing. The professors in the department actually care about the students in their classrooms. They are more than willing to go the extra mile."
"The professors in the Mathematics and Statistics Department at GVSU are interested in the students and their understanding of mathematics, not just their own research projects."
"The faculty and students at Grand Valley have deeply enriched my experiences here. The professors really care about each student and his/her success. I am very comfortable asking for extra help outside of class. The students in my classes are quite friendly and helpful also. Study groups formed to help all involved are very common. These facts along with influence of the mathematics and statistics club create a quality, well rounded department."
