The 2010 Math in Action Conference is centered around the theme “Strategies for Student Success.” The conference is of interest to teachers of mathematics at all grades levels, K-12. It is also of interest to parents to help them support their children’s learning of mathematics.

Conference Highlights:
The day’s schedule features four sets of concurrent, interactive sessions. Teachers participate in hands-on activities they can use to engage their own students in learning mathematics. Activities align with current recommendations for teaching and learning K-12 mathematics. A limited number of displays and items for purchase will be available.

Call for Proposals:
For the 2010 conference, we are particularly interested in proposals that focus on classroom-tested practices that effectively promote student learning in Grades K-12. Some possibilities are strategies for effectively

Integrating mathematics with different content areas (language arts, social studies, etc.)

Integrating different areas of mathematics (such as geometry and algebra, number and data analysis, geometry and probability)

Engaging students in challenging mathematics problems while appropriately supporting their learning

Engaging parents in student learning in and outside the classroom

Creating classroom environments that promote student learning

Supporting English language learners

Utilizing technology to promote student learning
