Grand Valley shares research at international wind energy conference
Date: May 20, 2013
A group of faculty and staff members from Grand Valley attended the WINDPOWER Conference and Exhibition — the largest annual wind energy event in the world — in Chicago May 6-8.
T. Arnold (Arn) Boezaart, director of Grand Valley’s Michigan Alternative and Renewable Energy Center; Charlie Standridge, assistant dean of the Padnos College of Engineering and Computing; and Jim Edmonson, project manager for the university’s Lake Michigan Offshore Wind Assessment Project shared information about the project during a poster presentation May 7.
“It’s important that Grand Valley has a presence at these kind of events,” said Boezaart. “We did a lot of networking and talking with others who would be interested in using our technology and data from the offshore wind project. We also learned about new technology and trends in the wind industry.”
The conference was organized by the American Wind Energy Association, of which Grand Valley is an institutional member.
Monthly data summaries and other preliminary information collected from the Lake Michigan Offshore Wind Assessment Project are available on ScholarWorks at scholarworks.gvsu.edu.
