MAREC Facility Photo Gallery

The MAREC facility is a 25,000 square foot facility that offers business incubator space, energy laboratory, conference center, and classroom facilities.
MAREC is located in one of Michigan's SmartZones. SmartZone promote collaborations between universities, industry, research organizations, government, and other community institutions, growing technology-based businesses and jobs.

MAREC was developed as a direct response to the growing need for alternative and renewable energy sources. The mission of MAREC is to be a destination point for researchers and businesses developing alternative energy technologies and applications.
MAREC was the first newly constructed facility in Michigan to receive "Gold Certification" as a Leadership in Energy and Engineering Design (LEED).
The abundance of windows allows natural light to help warm the facility. MAREC’s eastern face includes a 20-foot overhang to provide shade during the summer and allows the winter sun to enter the building.

A start-up company can rent space at MAREC for a competitive fee that helps offset the cost of getting a business up and running. The idea is to help new companies grow and move out into the community and create jobs.

On the MAREC's second floor visitors will find GVSU offices, a variety of meeting spaces, classrooms, and the main seminar room.

This is the hallway that leads to GVSU's main MAREC offices. The artwork on the walls all around the MAREC facility were provided by the GVSU Collection. Pictured above is Pansies by Jo Hormuth.
Above is one of ten locations inside of MAREC where visitors and potential clients can meet informally. Ninety percent of MAREC’s occupied spaces offer a direct view to the outdoors.

This small conference room is one of two inside of MAREC that can accommodate up to six guests. Each conference room has a whiteboard, power supply, access to wireless internet, and a phone line.

This is one of two classrooms located at MAREC that can seat up to 40 people classroom style or 25 people when the room is set up like a board room. Each classroom has a whiteboard, a computer with fiber optic internet access, access to wireless internet, a projector, and multiple power supplies.

The main seminar room is equipped with a podium on a stage, microphone system, computer with internet access, a projector, multiple power supplies, and access to wireless internet. This room can accommodate a vast range of people depending on the setup.
