Space for entrepreneurs at MAREC.

Clients may begin to build their dreams and create their businesses by leasing space in our 6,000-square-feet of lab and office area.

We offer a range of low-cost space options, from single modular work stations to multi-employee work station clusters, enclosed offices, drylab “R & D” space and light manufacturing possibilities.

A SHOWCASE FOR ENERGY INNOVATION
Our 25,000-square-foot building showcases innovative technologies and design—an ideal and stimulating atmosphere for entrepreneurs. MAREC is an award-winning LEED Gold Certified facility. It operates as a distributed electric generation facility that demonstrates wind and solar energy, a micro-turbine, an electric vehicle charging station and other technology.

A DESTINATION FOR EDUCATION
MAREC is also a destination for conferences, workshops, education programs, and other public events for audiences from energy professionals to high school students. Meeting rooms, classrooms, and galleries are available, with fine dining, overnight accommodations, and a marina within walking distance.

Chart House Energy LLC logo.

 

Founded in 2009, Chart House Energy is an independent power producer providing discounted, emission-free electricity to governmental, commercial and private customers, through developing, owning and operating sustainable clean on-site energy generation systems.

In order to develop renewable energy systems, Chart House Energy leases real estate (roofs and/or land) from property owners, installs solar PV panels (or other renewable energy technologies) and sells generated electric power to the property owner, the tenant or local power company.  To date, the company has completed solar PV projects generating nearly 2 megawatts, including the largest PV projects in Michigan and Iowa. 

Robert Rafson, P.E, is the president and founder of Chart House Energy LLC, which also has offices in Chicago, Illinois.  Mr. Rafson has 27 years’ experience in environmental engineering, design, construction and operation of over 150 environmental improvement projects in the United States and abroad.

Launched in 2010, LongerDays.com is one of the largest providers of “virtual employees” in America.  Their business model provides clients with access to a virtual assistant team of talented professionals through a single point of contact (called a team lead).  This provides customers with greater productivity and lower overhead at a low cost. Longer Days currently serves about 80 clients in the US and other countries.  Its founder is Chad Lawie, a Muskegon native.

Energy Partners LLC Logo

With retired GVSU professor Jim Wolter at the helm, Energy Partners strives to create and market new and improved alternative energy, energy storage, and energy conservation products through internal innovation and partnerships with various companies throughout the region.  Energy Partners recently released Solar 24, an innovative solar technology, at the 2013 Solar Power International conference in Chicago (more).

Penters, LLC

 

Penters, LLC joined MAREC in January 2013. It operates as a management and investment firm focused on energy development and related technology with emphasis on sustainable business practices. Penters will develop and manage energy related projects and link related capital investment in both the US and Europe, with particular emphasis on wind, solar and hydropower.
