University Libraries

Search for articles, books & more

We at the Libraries realize that distance education faculty have different needs than on-campus faculty - we've highlighted some resources below that we hope will help.

For more information, visit our Services for Faculty and Staff page.

Feel free to contact us with questions - our contact information is at the bottom of the page!

Placing Course Material on Reserve

Make articles, books, and videos easily and freely (and often electonically) available to your students.  For more information, see our Course Reserve page.

Finding Books

Search our catalog to find books:

Once you've found books on your topic, you'll need to request them - this PDF shows you how.

Need to renew your books? Renew them online. (See our loan policies to find out how long you can check things out for and how many times you can renew them.)

When you're done with your books, there are a few options for returning them at no cost.

You'll also want to sign up for our Document Delivery service - it's a way to get books and articles that GVSU doesn't have, and they'll be delivered to you at no cost.

Finding Articles

There are several ways to find articles.

Databases:

Try searching a specific database - they are organized by subject to help you choose. If you find an article you want, click on the button to see if we have it online, or request it through Document Delivery.

Summon:

Limit your search to "Items with full text online" (the first checkbox in the upper left) to get articles that are online only. You'll be able to narrow down your search results by selecting other options in the left sidebar.

Need help with something else?

Your liaison librarian would be happy to help you with a variety of library and research related projects, including instructing your students, integrating library resources into your blackboard pages and assisting with research assignments.  See more about your liaison librarian here, or just contact us!  We are available via email and phone, and most of us use chat and/or video conferencing software (see your discipline specific library guides for more details).
