Other Census Bureau Programs
| About Census Bureau Programs |
When most people think of the Census Bureau, they think about the decennial censuses of housing and population, but the Census Bureau also has a number of other programs and surveys that it conducts. Below you will find a list of some of those programs.
- American Community Survey
- "The American Community Survey is a new nationwide survey designed to provide communities a fresh look at how they are changing. It will replace the long form in future censuses and is a critical element in the Census Bureau's reengineered 2010 census plan."
- American Housing Survey
- "The American Housing Survey (AHS) collects data on the Nation's housing, including apartments, single-family homes, mobile homes, vacant housing units, household characteristics, income, housing and neighborhood quality, housing costs, equipment and fuels, size of housing unit, and recent movers. National data are collected every other year in the odd numbered years. Data for each of 47 selected Metropolitan Areas are collected currently about every six years in the even numbered years."
- Current Population Survey
- "The Current Population Survey (CPS) is a monthly survey of about 50,000 households conducted by the Bureau of the Census for the Bureau of Labor Statistics. . . Estimates obtained from the CPS include employment, unemployment, earnings, hours of work, and other indicators. Supplemental questions to produce estimates on a variety of topics including school enrollment, income, previous work experience, health, employee benefits, and work schedules are also often added to the regular CPS questionnaire."
