Collections You will find a variety of materials in the CML Collections, giving you a 'hands-on' approach to curriculum areas for kindergarten through 12th grade. To see what is available, search in the Library's Online Catalog. Some hints for searching: To find materials located only in CMLs, use the drop down menu option and choose CML as your LOCATION. Please note that the "limits" option for CML does not work when you are searching by title or call number. For information on loan periods or circulation, please see Library Loan Policies. Textbooks and Resources Collection Connection Newsletter Puppets This part of the collection is primarily made up of textbooks. We aim to emphasize on materials published within the last 10 years, although older textbook sets may be kept for comparison value. Due to budget and space constraints, we cannot guarantee to have the entire set for each textbook. Instead, student and teacher books for all grades are usually purchased, and from this set, a grade level will be selected for purchase of all the peripheral materials. It is our continuing goal to have current textbook sets in all curriculum areas. A large part of the book collection is idea/activity books to assist in lesson planning. CML also maintains a 'Big Book' collection of juvenile books. Most of the 'Big Books' contain teacher guides to help with presentation ideas. Search the catalog Audio Cassettes and CDs: This part of the Collection contains a variety of materials, from tapes of teacher conferences to children's songs and activities. These tests may be used by education professors for classroom presentations only. All other patrons must view the tests at CML-DeVos. The puppets are often used when reading a book, in storytelling, or in science projects. If you wish to see a list of puppets and their images, please click the Puppet List. Collection Connection Newsletter The Collection Connection newsletter is an electronic publication to showcase items found in the CMLs. Each month, the newsletter will have a focus. A variety of resources for the focus are listed, including new items, a focus-related website found on the CML web page, a section for the Michigan Department of Education, and other pertinent information on this theme. Take a look at the current and archived issues. The CMLs subscribe to many children's magazines: Ask, Cobblestone, Connected Newsletter (last print issue Summer 2008, now e-journal), Click, Cricket, Dragonfly (1996-2000) only at CML-M, Faces, Kids Discover, Mailbox (Preschool, Kindergarten, Primary, & Intermediate), Mailbox Bookbag (formerly Mailbox Teacher,1999-2009), Michigan History for Kids (2001-2009), Muse, National Geographic Kids, New Moon, Odyssey, Ranger Rick, Scientific American Explorations (1998-2002), Skipping Stones, Stone Soup, and Zoobooks.
