Lend A Hand!

Our students are really important to us – that is the reason why we are here!  We have many opportunities for students to get involved with the center.  We are open to student volunteers who want to assist with the day-to-day operations of the center, as well as aid us in planning events and programs. We are currently looking for volunteers to help us out with a variety of projects. Our office is here to serve you!  If you are interested in volunteering, but these projects don’t interest you – come stop by!  There is always something going on!

The Mentorship Program

The LGBT Resource Center’s Mentorship Program is designed to help new students get acquainted with campus life and the LGBT community both here at Grand Valley and in the greater Grand Rapids area.  Mentors assist their mentees in making connections to GVSU and do their best to answer questions and help them adjust to college life.

Interested in being a mentor?  Stop by the center in 233 Lake Ontario and fill out an application, or download one here and email it to us!  Applications are due by Sept. 28, 2007.  Training sessions will be held Tuesday, October 2 and Thursday, October 4.

Are you a new student?  Need a mentor?  Download an interest form or fill one out in our office to be assigned a mentor!

Library

Our library is currently in its developmental stage. We have over 200 books already and are in the process of getting them catalogued as a satellite library to Zumberge! Soon you can search topically on the GVSU Library website and be able to find books that are sitting on our shelves!

Volunteering

The center puts on a lot of programs and events, and we need your help! Stop by our office in 233 Lake Ontario or send us an e-mail to see what planning is going on. We would love to have you and your ideas around!
