Certificate Requirements

In order to complete the certificate, students must select a total of 12 credits from a list of required and elective courses. For elective courses, students must select one course from each of the two groups of electives.

Required courses- 6 credits

  • LIB 382: Leadership Portfolio Development (1 credit)
  • WRT 350: Business Communication (3 credits)
  • IDS 400: Liberal Education & Problem Solving in the Workplace (2 credits)

Elective courses- 6 credits

Group 1: Technological Literacy (select 1 course)

  • CIS 150: Introduction to Computing (3 credits)
  • CIS 231: Problem Solving with Spreadsheets (3 credits)

Group 2: Financial Literacy (select 1 course)

  • ECO 200: Business Economics (3 credits)
  • ACC 212: Principles of Financial Accounting (3 credits)

Students pursing the LEPS certificate are strongly encouraged to participate in the Brooks Professional Series, which provides additional professionalization activities related to networking, career exploration, and the job search.
