We will discuss the ongoing changes in Federal legislation regarding special education students and the significant impact that it has in our general education classrooms each day. You will learn to understand these emerging trends in education and learn skills to assist you to ride this seismic wave of change. |

ED 600 18 Enhance Student Learning for Success July 8 & 9 Susan Owens This fun movement oriented class will explain basic facts about the brain that educators need to know to increase their effectiveness in the classroom. The Top Ten Tips for creating brain friendly classroom environments will be presented so that you can make immediate changes to your classroom to enhance student learning. You will also come to understand the negative impact that stress has on your student’s ability to learn and how to utilize brain compatible strategies to improve their performance. You will learn specific movements that prepares your students brain and body for optimal learning in the areas of reading, writing, attention and motivation. Join us to learn ways to energize your students and increase their success in school. |

ED 600 19 Developmentally Appropriate Practices When It Comes to Implementing the Common Core Standards July 17 & 18 Tracy Fosdick This course will explore relevant information that teachers must know about research-based instructional practices that promote effective learning and the Common Core State Standards; child development and how our general knowledge about young children can allow for successful implementation of the Common Core State Standards in developmentally appropriate classrooms; and specific appropriate experiences for the young child that link to the Common Core State Standards. |
