Traumatic Stress and the Social Work Practitioner Date: December 4, 2009 Training Summary: Social Work practitioners who work with traumatized populations are vulnerable to experiencing secondary traumatic stress. This training will educate you about the unintended consequences of hearing about and working with those who have been traumatized. Participants will learn strategies to prevent secondary stress, as well as gain the ability to recognize it and implement professional and personal self-care strategies. You will leave with the tools needed to balance caring for others and caring for yourself so that you can continue to make a difference in the lives of families and children.
