This is an opportunity for GVSU student leaders to network and learn new ways to collaborate with other groups on campus. -Leadership Summit Planning Board Positions, Applications due Today by 5 p.m.!
Leadership Summit of Grand Valley State University is a state-wide premier leadership conference and campus tradition entering its 15th year. It is a student-run conference which strives to foster leadership development for undergraduate students, in multidisciplinary aspects of campus life. -First Year Service Experience, October 7th – 8th 4:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Kirkhof Center 2215
This is a service-learning opportunity for first-year students to volunteer together at a local non-profit organization. We will be taking 15-20 students to Blandford Nature Center where students can enjoy getting to know new people while participating in an intense 24-36 hour experience packed with learning, fellowship, and service. The First Year Leadership Exploration is a 5-week leadership emersion program designed to assist newer leaders in creating and enhancing their personal philosophy of leadership while developing basic leadership skills and learning about all of the leadership opportunities that the GVSU community has to offer. -Omicron Delta Kappa Application Deadline – Friday, October 7th by 5:00 p.m.
ODK is a National Leadership Honor Society that recognizes and encourages superior scholarship, leadership and exemplary character. Membership in Omicron Delta Kappa is open to Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students who have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA, as well as staff, administration, faculty, and alumni. Leadership University is a public forum for students to plan and showcase their development as leaders. Students at Grand Valley State University work with mentors, engage and reflect on development opportunities, build marketable e-portfolios, and earn recognition for their effort and growth. -Place Matters, October 19th – 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Kirkhof Center 2270
This workshop focuses on the well-being of minorities living in neglected, urban areas. Profiles and discussion of the residents include life-expectancy, disease, environmental quality, poverty and other issues that affect quality of life and health. Public policy is also discussed and its impact on health is examined. A model for civic engagement and community activism is presented as a model for change. Click here for more information!
