Timothy Syfert

Professor

Timothy teaches organizational strategy and organizational development at Grand Valley State University to both undergraduate and graduate students. He also has over 25 years business experience in key strategic roles at Timex Watch Company, Haworth, Royal Consumer Business Products, Sherwin Williams, Roadway Express Trucking Company, and Johnson Controls. As a business consultant, he has assisted numerous profit and non-profit organizations with the facilitation of strategic analysis and planning activities. Companies have included large consumer products and business-to-business corporations as well as small to medium-sized manufacturing organizations. Specific experience includes:

  • Coaching and developing leadership skills with key personnel
  • Developing and deploying performance management systems
  • Assisting leadership teams and departments with strategic, operational, human resources planning
  • Performing strategic gap analysis and assists staff to develop processes and procedures to encourage expected performance
  • Aligning strategic and operational plans and deploys staff to deliver desired results
  • Assisting with the assessment of staff skills, development of learning plans, and aligning/developing necessary training programs
  • Process and tools include company strategy development, organizational capabilities development, developing and coaching management team and staff, performance measures, and cultural change

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Oklahoma State University, a Masters in Business Administration in Strategic Planning from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Doctorate in Organization Development from Capella University.
