Student Athlete Tutoring Program

In order to become a tutor, you must fill out a Tutor Information Sheet and send a copy of your transcript  and the form to Mallory Miller at deaconmo@gvsu.edu.  If you have any questions about becoming a tutor, call Laura Klinger at (616) 331-3204 or stop by her office (B-146 FH).

We are always looking for students who can tutor any MTH, CHM, BIO, ECO, BMS, ACC, PHY, STA, and PSY courses.

The following are requirements for becoming a tutor:

1.     You must have completed at least one (1) full academic year at Grand Valley

2.     You must have taken the course OR a higher level of the course at Grand Valley in order to be eligible to tutor the course

3.     You must have received a B+ or better in any courses you intend to tutor

4.     You must have some tutoring experience (formal or informal)

5.      Recommendation from your Professor

LASC’s Tutoring Program was created in order to provide Grand Valley student-athletes with appropriate academic support services that cannot be addressed elsewhere on campus.  For several of our student-athletes, the combination of their classes, practice, and travel schedules, does not afford them the opportunity to utilize the campus’ Tutoring Center or other services on campus.  Our Tutoring Program is here to support those students with such conflicts.  While we are here to accommodate the needs of our student-athletes, we encourage them to utilize all other academic support services available on campus as well.  These services include but are not limited to:
