In addition to working full-time as the Director for Academic Services in Grand Valley State's Athletic Department, Damon has taught numerous classes at the University. He holds an A.A. in Behavior Science (Citrus Community College), a B.A. and M.A. in Sociology (Chico State University), as well as an M.S. in Sports Psychology (University of Idaho). Damon also received his Ph.D. in Education Administration (Washington State University). As you can tell from his educational accomplishments, Damon truly believes in life-long learning. It is his goal to inspire his student-athletes to confidence in all situations, by encouraging education to inspire a generation. He wants to help young men and women understand that correct decisions and choices are an important part of life.    


Alicia Lloyd, M.Ed

Senior Academic Advisor
Alicia works full-time as an academic adviser in the L.A.K.E.R. Academic Success Center. She also works on the Life Skills program for student-athletes. She received her B.S in 2005 from GVSU in Public Relations. She then went on to receive her M.Ed in 2007 in College Student Affairs Leadership. Alicia is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the students she works with.  


Jasmine Padin, M.Ed

Jasmine is a full time Living Center Director in Housing and Residence Life. She oversees about 657 residents living in Murray Living Center, VanSteeland Living Center and Grand Valley Apartments. Within these living centers are two academic communities (International House and Gender Justice House).  She graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Leadership with a minor in Business and a Master’s in Education. She is also the academic advisor for Women's Lacrosse and Women's Basketball.

Graduate Assistant

Mike is a second year graduate student in the College Student Affairs Leadership Program. He graduated from Grand Valley with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Religious Studies. Mike coordinates the Athletes Who Care program, assists with the Life Skills presentation series, manage web content, and serves as an academic advisor for the Track & Cross Country teams.


Mallory Miller

Graduate Assistant

Mallory Miller is a first year graduate student in the College Student Affairs Leadership program.  She graduated from Michigan State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities.  Mallory coordinates the LAKER Academics Tutoring Program and serves as an advisor for the Track and Softball teams.  Mallory is greatly looking forward to serving students and being a part of the LAKER team!


Mandy Rodgers

I am a second year student in the College Student Affairs Leadership masters program and will graduate in April with an M.Ed. I am a graduate assistant in the Office of Sustainability Practices and I am an intern in the Laker Academic Success Center this year working with the swimming and diving teams as well the tennis teams.


Meghan Huyghe, M.Ed

Career Development Specialist

Meghan works as a career development specialist in the LAKER Academic Center. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education from Grand Valley. Meghan assists student athletes in their career planning and professional development.  This is Meghan's third year working with student athletes and is looking forward to the upcoming year.

Hello, my name is Wendy L. McFarland. I am a second year CSAL graduate student. I will be working on the LAKER Academic Success Center's website and coordinating the Faculty Mentor Program. I am looking forward to great year!
