In addition to working full-time as the Director for Academic Services in Grand Valley State's Athletic Department, Damon has taught numerous classes at the University. He holds an A.A. in Behavior Science (Citrus Community College), a B.A. and M.A. in Sociology (Chico State University), as well as an M.S. in Sports Psychology (University of Idaho). Damon also received his Ph.D. in Education Administration (Washington State University). As you can tell from his educational accomplishments, Damon truly believes in life-long learning. It is his goal to inspire his student-athletes to confidence in all situations, by encouraging education to inspire a generation. He wants to help young men and women understand that correct decisions and choices are an important part of life.

Senior Academic Advisor
Alicia works full-time as an academic adviser in the L.A.K.E.R. Academic Success Center. She also works on the Life Skills program for student-athletes. She received her B.S in 2005 from GVSU in Public Relations. She then went on to receive her M.Ed in 2007 in College Student Affairs Leadership. Alicia is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the students she works with.

Jasmine is a full time Living Center Director in Housing and Residence Life. She oversees about 657 residents living in Murray Living Center, VanSteeland Living Center and Grand Valley Apartments. Within these living centers are two academic communities (International House and Gender Justice House). She graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Leadership with a minor in Business and a Master’s in Education. She is also the academic adviser for Women's Basketball.

Justice Jacobs is a first year graduate student in the College Student Affairs Leadership program. She graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Hospitality and Tourism Management. Justice coordinates the Faculty Mentorship Program and the Life Skills Presentations. Justice also serves as an academic adviser for the Women’s Volleyball team and the Track and Cross Country teams. Justice is delighted to be a part of the LAKER Academic Success Center and to work with student athletes!

Mallory Miller is a second year graduate student in the College Student Affairs Leadership program. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities. Mallory coordinates the LAKER Academics Tutoring Program and serves as an adviser for the Track, Cross Country, and Lacrosse teams. Mallory is greatly looking forward to serving students and being a part of the LAKER team!

Ben Stoner is a second year graduate student in the College Student Affairs Leadership Program. He grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and attended Aquinas College. In his down time he plays guitar, develops writing projects, and also loves sports, traveling, and listening to a great podcast, or a well-crafted Spotify playlist. Ben looks forward to working with student-athletes to further their academic success.

Erika Perry is a second year graduate student in the College Student Affairs Leadership Program. Erika attended Wayne State University and received a degree in Psychology. While attending Wayne State University Erika was a varsity track student-athlete. Erika will serve as an adviser for the GVSU throwing and tennis teams. She is excited to mentor and advise Grand Valley student-athletes.
Career Development Specialist
Meghan works as a career development specialist in the LAKER Academic Center. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education from Grand Valley. Meghan assists student athletes in their career planning and professional development. This is Meghan's third year working with student athletes and is looking forward to the upcoming year.
