Damon Arnold, Ph.D.

In addition to working full time as the Director for Academic Services in Grand Valley State's Athletic Department, Damon has taught numerous classes at the University.
He holds an A.A. in Behavior Science (Citrus Community College), a B.A. and M.A. in Sociology (Chico State University), as well as an M.S. in Sports Psychology (University of Idaho). Damon also received his Ph.D. in Education Administration (Washington State University). As you can tell from his educational accomplishments, Damon truly believes in life-long learning.
It is his goal to inspire his student-athletes to confidence in all situations, by encouraging education to inspire a generation. He wants to help young men and women understand that correct decisions and choices are an important part of life.
Alicia works full-time as an academic adviser in the L.A.K.E.R. Academic Center. She also works on the Life Skills program for student-athletes. She received her B.S in 2005 from GVSU in Public Relations. She then went on to receive her M.Ed in 2007 in College Student Affairs Leadership. Alicia is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the students she works with.
Jamie is a graduate student working towards her Master’s degree in Higher Education with a concentration in College Student Affairs Leadership. She is a first year graduate assistant in the LAKER Academic Center and is very excited to be working with the Laker athletes. Jamie graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies. Outside of school and work, Jamie enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading and watching movies.
Travis is in his first year as a graduate student working towards a Master's degree in Biostatistics. In April of 2009, he received a B.S. in Statistics from GVSU. Travis is excited for the opportunity to work with student athletes here at GVSU. Basketball, going out with friends, spending time with family, and watching sports are a few of his interests outside of work and class.
Becky is a second year graduate student in the Masters of Education, College Student Affairs Leadership program. She currently works as a Graduate Assistant in Housing and Residence Life. Prior to coming to GrandValley, Becky attended EasternIllinoisUniversity, where she earned a Bachelors of Arts in English and Creative Writing. Becky will be spending the summer of 2009 at the University of Louisville where she will be serving as an intern in the Orientation Office. In her free time, she enjoys scrapbooking, hanging out with friends, watching silly reality TV shows, and traveling.
Phillip is a second year graduate student in the Masters of Education, College Student Affairs Leadership program. He currently serves as a Graduate Assistant in the Counseling & Career Development Center. In December of 2007 he received his B.S. in Advertising & Public Relations from GVSU. Phillip is looking forward to a phenomenal year working with the athletes and LAKER Academic Center staff. In his free time, he enjoys sleeping, watching TV, browsing the web, playing on the computer, reading books, writing, and listening to music.
